software Avon, Conn. -- June 25, 1998 -- DATACAD LLC, publisher of DataCAD architectural computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software, and John Wiley & Sons, Inc., (NYSE: JW.A and JW.B) publisher of Ramsey & Sleeper's Architectural Graphic Standards, have entered into a distribution agreement. Registered DataCAD users will now be able to purchase this interactive catalog of architectural details and drawings through a special DataCAD promotion. Ramsey & Sleeper's Architectural Graphic Standards is a reference of standards for architectural graphic elements and designs, and it is edited by the American Institute of Architects. These standards are commonly used by architects, engineers, and contractors around the world. The standardization of architectural details has played an increasingly important role in construction communications as fax and Internet transmissions make architectural projects more international in scope. John Wiley & Sons has published the book's 9th edition. "We strive to offer add-on tools to DataCAD that will enable our users to work faster and more efficiently," said Mark Madura, president of DATACA LLC. "Wileys Architectural Graphic Standards is THE standard desk reference for architectural details. It is a tremendous asset and time saver for DataCAD users to be access these details electronically and import them into a CADD drawing file." Susan O'Gara, Special Sales Representative for John Wiley & Sons, Inc., added, "Given the highly graphical content of our reference CD-ROM, it made sense for us to partner with a CADD company on its distribution. DATACAD LLC was a natural choice because its DataCAD software is so widely used in the AEC industry, and the company has a proven track record." The CD-ROM version of Architectural Graphic Standards contains thousands of graphical elements in its database, including vector-format drawings, which can be imported into DataCAD and other CADD programs. The CD-ROM also includes Internet links to more than 2,000 World Wide Web sites that provide additional access to additional drawings and architectural standards, as well as links to manufacturers' product information. Building product information is also in the latest version, the result of a new partnership with Architects' First Source. DataCAD is the second most widely used architectural CADD software among members of The American Institute of Architects (AIA), according to The 1997 AIA Firm Survey Report. DataCAD software was designed by architects for architecture, and it includes features expressly designed for architectural design, building services, engineering and rendering. DataCAD has more than 200,000 installations worldwide. Besides its core architectural usage, DataCAD has been used extensively to design interiors, landscapes, crime-scene models, and security-plan documents.
