Before You Contact Technical Support
Before you contact technical support for assistance via e-mail or telephone, please be prepared to provide the following information to the support representative.
Version Number You can find your version number by selecting About DataCAD? from the Help pull-down menu.
Serial Number Your DataCAD serial number is printed on the back of your CD-ROM case.  You can also find it by selecting About DataCAD? from the Help pull-down menu.
Operating System Your computer may be running Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Vista.  To determine your operating system, right-click on My Computer, select Properties and view the General tab.  Note: Windows 95, 98, and Me are no longer supported by DataCAD 11 and later versions.
Problem Description You should be prepared to briefly describe your problem or question, and be able to provide any error messages you may have experienced.  In the event that you have an intermittent problem, it is recommended that you keep notes in a log or notebook.
Contact Information You will be asked to provide your name, company name, and phone number.  This is especially important when you send an e-mail message to technical support, so we can identify you.
Hardware Configuration What type & speed processor does you computer have?
How much memory (RAM) does your computer have?
Are you running DataCAD on a network?
What type of printer(s) do you have?
Credit Card Number You will need to provide a credit card for Pay-Per-Incident support.  You will be denied technical assistance if you are unable to provide your credit card number.
