What features would you like to see added to a future version of DataCAD?

It would be great if one could edit a symbol within a drawing.
For example, I have placed roof sheets in a model but need to shorten some panels.
Now I can explode the symbol and do this with then it's not a symbol anymore.

I do not wish to save this edited drawing as a new symbol. Simply wanted just to edit the ones in the model.

But you can.
If enabled in Program Preferences under Drawing Tab, you can just double click on the symbol and it will open in symbol editor.
Or, Ctrl-Right Click - Symbol Tools, Edit Symbol
Or, Open Symbol Browser - Ctrl-Right Click on the Symbol, Edit Symbol

Hi Roger, I am aware of the Symbol editing. I have used the same symbol multiple times in the same drawing and need to change only one of these symbols However, if you edit one symbol, all the others will also change accordingly. The only way currently is to explode the symbol that needs editing and then change that one. The problem is the edited symbol now has become a drawing and not a symbol any more. I hope my explanation makes sense

I see a couple options for you.
1. Edit the symbol and save as a new symbol.
2. Edit the symbol, create a new layer for the shorter panel length. Copy the long panel to the short layer, and save the symbol. Then using "Symbol Layer Control" you can control which layer is shown. Long Panel or Short Panel.
Is use this for many options, North Arrow Up or actual.
Exit Sign Face 1, Face 2, Arrow right, Arrow left. Same symbol but many view options.

It sounds like what he would like is similar to SketchUp's Component "Make Unique" which allows you to make any number of the same symbol (or component in SU) unique, but doesn't require it to be saved or renamed. SU is likely doing all of the "save as new symbol" behind the scenes without any other user input.

- [Ctrl] + Right-click on a symbol instance then click Symbol Tools > Edit Symbol.
- Press [Ctrl] + [A] to select all entities.
- Press [Ctrl] + [C] to copy the selected entities to the clipboard.
- Close the Symbol Editor and click No to not save changes.
- Press [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [V] to paste the clipboard contents as a symbol.
- At the message line, press [Enter] to accept the automatically-generated name or type a new name first.
Now the symbol definition is duplicated with a new name.
