It was discussed that covered polylines can now be rotated and worked on (voids inserted) in all three x y and z planes in space. That being the case, constructing models similar to the process in Sketchup should now be able to be achieved. The items I believe that still need to be refined are:
1. When going from one plane to the other, the item worked on should remain on grid and reside in a fixed point in space with the xyz coordinates (This is very clear in Sketchup). It should be easy to go from one plane to another and work on the respective planes (ie. Elevations and ultimately sloped surfaces).
2. Now that we can place voids in surfaces on the x,y and z planes, it would be nice to be able to simply insert windows and doors in the surfaces on any of the coordinate planes. The 3D window modeler (AEC_modl) works well only in the ortho view where it can simultaneously cut a void and insert a window into a polygon on slab. One can create a window in elevation and stretch it in the current macro as well, but it does not cut the void at this time. If DataCad can add inserting a window or door while cutting the void in a covered polygon and/or polygon with the AEC_modl macro in any plane in space (x y and z axises), it would be a simplified way for us to parametrically build our models using refined modeling tools with DataCad. Being able to insert doors and windows in any plane, stretch and move them in the surface and view them in elevation and axonometric would allow us to model in a more efficient way.
