Wouldn't it be nice if we had a separate programme for editing default files? I don't have many but some users have a swag of them. It would save a lot of gnashing of teeth and tearing of hair at times like when an extra menu button comes in for smart arrows.

The go would be that, once you have made changes to one default file, this programme would enable you to apply the changes to all default files.
