We are using Reference files quite extensively and find that nesting increases the time it takes to load a file. We have been trying to avoid using nesting where possible, but there are times when it is necessary. Monitoring the \temp directory reveals the files that are loaded and how much time each one take. Once the drawing is closed, the temp files are deleted. It would be great if some sort of cache could be setup to allow selected files to remain thus reducing the long load times. Self XRefs seem to required particularly long load times for some reason.
