Mark Madura,

The new Building/Energy codes are requiring many changes in the way we have constructed and prepared drawings. In MA, for instance the stretch code, and I believe the soon 2012 IEEC, we are required to provide a ACCA Manual J Calc for our designs, and have a HER's rater provide a report and blower door/duct blaster test. Or have the HVAC Installer do this. This has the potential for additional fee generation, and for information that we essentially already know or have a significant portion of this information already completed with the design of the structures.

It would be a huge benefit if "Smart Floors", "Smart walls", "Smart Roofs", "Smart Windows", and "Smart Polylines" could have "Smart functions" associated with them for defining area and volume caclulations, R & U Values, and have a customized U-values input, and other customized values that we could map to other databases, spreadsheets, or export to other programs for completing this information.

I think most of this is already there just need to be able to get it, have some flexibility in there so we can modify it, export it, use it, and Get additional fees for it. This would make the Newer DataCAD Versions/Upgrades much more valuable if the functions that are added can add value to the services we can provide and expand our services.
