Move to Layer - Layer Material (Wish of the Week 0601)

I really appreciate and use the "Layer Color" option when moving entities from one layer to another. Would it be possible to add "Layer Material" as well?
I use the Sweep macro to generate wall profiles, including cornice and gutter, and sometimes roof planes, that include numerous materials and colors. Once the geometry has been created, I move the various components to their respective layers where appropriate materials are assigned. It would be nice to have that process automated. This would also be helpful when refining a model which might involve changing the material of selected wall planes.
