It would be helpful if there was an option to place center point for closed polylines - similar to the way the basic polygons command currently works.

As in its Centroid? If you select a Polyline in the Area/Perim menu, you are given the option to add a Point at its centroid.

I am primarily thinking of this for rectangles, so the answer is yes.

It would be a bit cleaner if the center point could be added when the closed polyline is generated. The "Show It" and "Add" commands from the Takeoffs/Area/Per. menu would be perfect.
