Here are a few things that would make working with symbols more efficient:

1. Search and replace symbols by name instead of having to find the symbol in a drawing and then replace it.
2. Search and replace symbols in the entire drawing base whether the layers are on or not. This might work the same way purge and re-load works now.
3. I have been working with the prototyped symbol manager a bit which might be a good place to include the above features. The symbol manager would need a scalable window however.
4. Have the symbol name appear in the coordinates/hints toolbar when it is selected with the Ctrl+Right Button

Add SymbolManager=TRUE in the DEBUG section of the ini file and voila!

Doh! I had already enabled it and responded on Marks post. Have to revisit. Thanks Jim for pointing me to the light.

Now we just need to have Dave see the light

I have been updating symbol paths in a large drawing this morning (thanks to our friends at Dropbox ) and chasing down all the symbols is daunting at best.
