V18 Wishlist

I thought I might as well be the first cab off the rank, and try to take everybody along with my long-standing gripe.

When I save an image to a new layer, I want to work on it straight away.

When new layer is selected, there are two options

new layer off - for the life of me, I can't imagine that button being pushed often as a result of true desire.
or on - which means you revert to ortho and get everything.

What we need is a third, "exclusive-on", button which means you have the option to revert to ortho and see what you want, and only what you want. How obvious is that? I have been griping about this for ever, so some relief in version 18 would be most welcome. If nobody else in DCadland is interested, which seems to be the case, perhaps you can call it the Nick Pyner button. Cool.

AND SINCE the only way to see the image is in ortho, an automatic reversion to ortho, with view extents, on selecting "excl-on" sounds a really good idea.

I imagine it would take a bit of discipline in maintenance of GTVs, but I submit that, if this facility existed, it would, and indeed should, be the the default procedure.

I think this would be a good addition and it has my vote.

But I must say I do sometimes use the layer off button, especially if I am saving out multiple views.

good idea. I'm also like Paul, I'll save out 4 views then start working on them, so I'd use the button on the 4th view saved.

I like the way you can set up keyboard shortcuts in SU. A pull down within the program would make us use that feature much more since you don't have to go out to another file and start putzin' with writing code for the ALT, CTRL keys and such.

Looks like Smart Windows. I like the dockable smart window toolbar.

Wish the Xref Manager would remember size when last used in a drawing.

Mine remembers it's last size. Are you saying yours keeps defaulting back to the default size or that you want it to be on a per drawing basis? Maybe check your DcadwinDialogs.gui and see if you have duplicate entries for [XrefMgr]?
Code: Select all[XrefMgr]
Maximized=0
Left=150
Top=83
Width=739
Height=650
Minimized Names=1

no duplicates, didn't even have 1, so I added your sample, it seems to be working now.

Wish the Edit Symbol Attribute dialog could be scalable, so the text can be enlarged.
