Symbols with Knockout and covered polyline hierarchy

Using symbols with KO over fills, hatching and also closed polylines etc. works great, but if the closed polyline also applies a knockout then the symbol is always placed beneath it even when 'move to back' is used for the closed polyline / move to front for the symbol and the closed polyline is on a layer further up the layer menu.

Wishlist - allow symbols with KO to work with move to front/back so they can be visible over closed polylines which also have KO applied.

I might be misunderstanding, the wish but Move front/back currently only works related to things on the same layer. Can you create a new layer(s) or move the polyline to the same layer as the symbols you are trying to relate together?

I think they only way this would work is if you had a WYSIWYG option for the Display List that would completely ignore the layer ordering and that sounds like it would be a hot mess to keep organized at the entity level.

Hi Josh,
I should have elaborated a bit more in my post - each of the options you note were done; moving to front/back whilst the entities were on the same layer as well as moving the closed polylines to a layer further up the list etc. It occasionally works for a few seconds until the display list is updated then the knockout applied to the covered polyline displays over the KO to the symbols.

Many of the symbols we've created are built using polylines and closed polylines with KO applied and to get the symbols to display and print correctly (WYSIWYG format), the move to front/back has had to be used prior to saving the symbols. This sort of demonstrates that entities with KO applied can display using some type of hierarchy and that it could be possible to move a symbol created with KO applied to polylines over the top of (move to front) another polyline with KO applied given the symbol itself already uses this feature?

In the screenshot above with the basins and vanity bench, the basin outline is a closed polyline with KO and the internal linework of the bowl and taps are also polylines (some closed, some open) with KO. Using a bit of jiggling in using 'move to front' the correct display is achieved. The vanity bench is just another polyline with KO. It appears when these entities are saved as a symbol, they lose their ability to 'move to front' of another entity with KO.
