What features would you like to see added to a future version of DataCAD?

One of the forums I frequent is in phpBB format (same as this forum) and they have a pretty neat feature.
A ‘Quick Reply’ Box at the bottom of each topic, after the last post.
Keeps you from having to click on the ‘Post Reply’ button and going to a new screen. You instead type you’re reply there and hit ‘Submit’.
Knocks out the middle-man so to speak.
Maybe we can get that added here.
Just a thought.

As I side note: I noticed DBug #9 just came out, and this is February. We used to get those 1 or 2 a day. Is the old forum dying a slow death? I liked it, and there's a community of thought there, but the traffic seems to be moving over to here. Sadly, I don't get around to seeing all that come up here, so I know I'm missing out on a lot of the collective thought--

Hello Dwight,

I think that there have been other reasons for the DBUG slowdown -- I think that the anti-spam filters have been bouncing just about all emails; though in the past few days, it has started working again. One would think that with a finite number of people on the DBUG list, that email from folks on the list could be let through?

Back on topic, I'm not sure what the advantage is of the "quick reply"? Can you explain it again, please?

Not a huge deal, it just skips a step in posting.
With the quick reply at the bottom of each thread, there's no need to go to the 'Post Reply' screen.
You simply type your response in the text box and hit 'submit'.
Probably most beneficial to those using Dial-up.

Hello Redd,

Does the 'Preview' option is available also, before posting the message ?

At least two reasons for asuring that option:
1) In some cases, when including an image, you need to check out if the image is right, and will be shown correctely. You must see in Preview to confirm posting.
2) When you're typing in other language then your native (it's my case right now), it is useful to check spell, to prevent mistakes or mispelling.

Thanks,
Miguel

Redd,
Good wish. Neil asked for an explanation of why it was necessary. Let's
take Neil's post as an example. On my screen, when Neil's post is viewed,
the "post reply" button is not in view on my screen. I have to scroll all
the way to the top or bottom to get that, and Neil's post is no longer in
view. Then I'm taken to a new screen where all the posts are stuffed
into a tiny scrolled area without avatars to re-find Neil's post, and/or
others that I want to see. The existing posts under "topic review" are
then in reverse order from those in the original thread on the previous
screen. A scrolled area withing a scrolled area makes using the mouse
scroll wheel a bit tricky.

The whole process can be time consuming just to reply to a simple post.

2 Points to this post:

1. Even with a quick reply you'd have to scroll to the bottom of the page to get to the quick reply box. Granted you can scroll back up and find the post easier, but your still scrolling a lot.

2. There is the "quote" button you can use so that you can see what was written along with everyone else, OR if you want you can use that button then delete the quote once you make your reply.

I have seen a quick reply on other forums. It is a handy tool for sure...

Greg, thanks for pointing this out. I had no idea how this worked. I think
I originally envisioned a "quick reply" button located on each post, and
not at the top and bottom of the page.
