A free scale option in the plot/scale menu.
Chosse with a window, so that it is possible to print scales like 1:77,488 without editing the list, or print maximal on a paper when scales are not needed.

This really should be in the done pile huh? Do an area or fence around what you want, and have it print to the extents of your paper selection.

I have also bee wanting this for a while

I'll piggyback onto this thread with the wish that if we cannot have a free scale plot, at least expand the pre-defined list to at least twice the available slots for us to customize.

Along with all of these wishes, how about a simple interface that would work out all of the math for you - based on a simple dialog box of "X" units (either imperial or metric) = (type in your scale)?
