What features would you like to see added to a future version of DataCAD?

Hello,

One of the most common use for the "Identify" feature is to know from which layer belongs an object in the drawing.
My suggestion is to add the hability to "Turn-Off" the layer where is placed that entity, when using the feature "Identify".
Something as a toggle (tick mark box) at left side of the layer name (on Ctrl+Right button), or an F-Key option to turn off the layer, when the feature is called by the traditional "I" key or the 'finger' button.

Thanks,
Miguel

Hi Miguel:

Where is it that you are proposing to put this toggle? On the Status Panel pull-down menu? Because, you could pretty easily do a keyboard macro that opened the Layer menu/F1 for On/Off, then Match, and then you just click on the entity...

When I want to do this I use the sequence: L (layers menu), F1 (On/Off), S8 (Match), and click on an entity on the layer that I want to turn off.

Hello guys,

Thank you for the tips. My wish was to use when somebody actually "dont know" from which layer belongs an object, but he want to clear up a view.

Usually he will start identifying all aroud the target, and when checking an object he find its layer he could have the option to turn off, as in the images below:

Please take a look.

Thanks,
Miguel.

Right -- this is exactly what Philip and I are saying! The L/F1/S8 sequence, followed by clicking on the line -- does exactly what you what it to do! :o Please try it!

You are probably right.

Unless, perhaps, you got some mess in the drawing.
For that reason you could use the Identify.

Thanks anyway,
Miguel.

Let's say that you use the L, F1, S8 sequence to turn off offending layers and wind up turning off a layer that you want to have on, but contains a mis-layered entity. In that case, you could use Ctr+Z to turn the layer back on and then use the sequence L, F4 (active only), S8 to have on only the layer with the offending entity. With that visible, move to layer the offending entity/entities. The use GoToView to verify that you've cleaned up the GoToView.
