DCAL Code Editor
Posted: Mon May 22, 2017 3:13 pmI have been using Notepad ++ () for many years, preferring it to the editor built into the IDE for some environments I have worked with.
So naturally I have been using it to edit my DCAL source. Using the built in highlighting for Pascal is semi-acceptable in Notepad++, but I have gradually been building up a definition for a user-defined DCAL configuration. As I think this is now pretty complete I thought I would share it.

This is an XML file that can be loaded using the import button on the 'language'/'define your language' dialog in Notepad++.
With this definition strings, numbers, comments, reserved words, built in routines, variables and constants are all highlighted. You can change the highlight style for any of the groups if you don't like the colours/bolding/font styles that I have chosen.
The language definition also supports folding blocks of code based on begin/end blocks, if/elsif/end blocks, while/end blocks and repeat/until blocks.
