Vectorworks R-17 and 04-06 and 07-08

I am in receipt of some SAVE AS files from Vectorworks: DWG and DXF from each of the above releases. When importing into a empty AEC file (17.02.00.09 SE) in Windows 7 DataCAD closes after a few seconds of importing. I wonder if there are tricks or tips from anyone that I may employ. While trolling this board it seemed that perhaps I should try importing directly from the VW file without using the SAVE AS..... I will try that.

You might try running the DWG/DXF through AutoDesk's DWG TrueView and save it back out before importing it into Dcad.

Alan, Well, that's a novel approach. I'll give it a try. I used to have AutoCAD LT but it's price escalated so much I dropped my subscription. Thank you.

There are other Acad clones that you could try as well, but most (if not all) of them require payment - but I don't believe DWG TrueView costs anything.
