Valid DWG file opening problem.

Hello,
When I am trying to open a DWG file - I get an empty screen with the following message "invalid Zoom window defined" and then "Grid too small to display at this scale". I know that the DWG file is valid (I can see it via TrueView.)
The "layer manager" screen shows only "Layer001" and it is empty...
I am working with version 18.
My colleague opened the same file successfully. What can be the cause for that? Or what should I check?
Regards,
Odru.

Do you have the latest ver 18?
What datacad version is your colleague?
What version of Autocad was the file saved as?

Also make sure that whoever is sending you the file has exploded all "proxies" - which are 3rd-party objects created by a civil or architectural package added on to basic Acad. They will show in TrueView and other viewers but will NOT translate over in the DWG conversion process.
