I do quite a bit of back and forth work between Sketchup and DataCAD.
I can create a "clean" model in sketchup...export it via DWG/DXF/SKP to DataCAD and all is perfect. Colors and geometry remain intact. Groups/components become symbols. Works perfect and as expected.

The return trip from DC to SKP is problematic. Model become grossly triangulated which is a huge problem for advanced rendering, material mapping and editing in SU.

Am I missing a magic button or something?

Yup, would love to see the exporter updated to address this.

FYI...

I'm told this is a CAD in general problem.
Clean Up3 Ruby by TomTom helps.
