Neil is right.

Actually to show in o2c you must have any surface. If you want to display a text string in o2c, change to TTF fonts and you'll get it showing fine.
Using TTF fonts you can get a nice effect if using small Z-Height.

It worked with new TTF text.

How would I convert text already in drawing to "covered polylines" ?

Hi Danna,

Considering that the only text fonts that have surface are TTF Fonts, this obligates to transform the vectorial fonts which you want to display on o2c into TTF.

After that step, set a reasonable Z-Height for allowing it to return nice boxes.

Imagine that your text string is this:

Go to 3D Edit menu -> Explode and select the option TTF to Polyline.

This is what you'll get:
