Saving o2c Settings

When going from desktop to laptop I lose all the material color assignments. Is there any way to 'save' them so that I do not have to start from scratch on the laptop?

What you are asking is not clear.

The only setting fo o2c I use is cyan transparentised. It comes up on every computer without even thinking that I might need it.

The o2c settings are stored in the file.

If you take the file across to a laptop, those settings go with it. If you cannot see what you expect, I think it is a hardware problem.

If you are referring to standard settings, all you need do is have them in a default file and ensure that that file is common to all your computers.

Rendering by Color or by Layer is a per-drawing setting so this should not change from one computer to another.

What version of DataCAD are you running?

Having similar issues.
o2c models appear different on each PC in the office. All the materials and textures files are on a network drive and each PC is pathed correctly, but the materials still appear differently or not at all.
Even allowing for slight color variations due to monitors and graphix cards they should all look the same.
any ideas?

Brian,

Can you be more specific? Does this occur when you launch the Object Viewer from the same drawing but loaded on different computers?

Are you using a mapped drive (i.e., T:\ for Textures)? Or a UNC path (i.e. \\TextureServer\Textures\)?

it occurs when we launch the viewer from the same drawing, and if we save out the o2c and launch it directly on a different PC.
Textures are mapped using L:\Support Files\textures\
using version 14.03.02.08
You can see the color differences below. I have a third PC that actual models the walls white.

Looks like a lighting issue. Toggle [0] to turn all lights off, then toggle [0] again to turn all lights on.
[1] Toggles the sunlight source.
[2] Toggles the ambient light 1 source.
[3] Toggles the ambient light 2 source.
[4] Toggles the ambient light 3 source.
[5] Toggles custom lights (if any).

Here are some examples illustrating the effect of various ambient lighting combinations.

I thought the lighting might be an issue as well, but even with just sunlight on, they are different colors.
we don't use any custom lighting, just the defaults.
At least these two are close, the other one look like a complete different color scheme.

Do you render by Color or by Layer?

Here's an experiment to try:

Launch the Object Viewer from a DataCAD drawing on a machine that displays the model 'correctly'. Right-click in the Object Viewer and select Save Object... and save an o2c file using o2c Format. Then display this object on each computer in your office. You can do this by either copying the file to each computer or by accessing it from a central location. Double-click on the o2c file to launch the stand-alone viewer. Is the display of the model consistent?

No. All three computers display the model differently.
I've tried adjusting all the monitors to the same brightness and contrast, but it doesn't help.
any other ideas?

If you right-click in the stand-alone Object Viewer window to display the context menu, then select Info..., what version is displayed?
Is it the same version number on each computer?

Could it be different versions of DirectX or OpenGL (don't remember what O2C uses.)? Maybe try rolling back or changing the monitor drivers all the default Generic PNP monitor driver. My Samsung 24" gets a driver update from Windows update that makes a lot of white turn tan but doesn't make other colors change. It's really weird. I would really look into the driver end of things to try to correct this issue.

This is what your shooting for with the monitor driver.
