Faulty triangulation

OK, guru's. I have a 3d site that is constructed of slabs, some of which are edited to accommodate fill. The problem slab is unedited. When shown alone, it appears perfectly in 3d via o2c, as does the rest of the site. But when included with the rest of the site, this slab shows incorrectly. Any idea why this would happen?

I recreated the slab on another layer. I rendered perfectly (also) and when combined with the site, rendered faulty (also).
Next test?

Smoothing on or off? Render backface on or off?

Strange, working properly now. Oh, very well then, never mind (in the words of Emily Litella)
