Someone please help me understand the o2c and o2c_2go... I have saved an o2c object. I had intended using it for a presentation with my client. But I can not find any useful information as to how to actually get a viwere and to use it.

Why is this so complicated, or at least in my mind?

What do I do with the saved object?
How do I view it?

This is probably so basic to many, but I don't have a clue how to use it. I saw some viewers online to download, but was afraid of viruses, etc.

Is there a recommended link somewhere?

Thanks.

Hi Dennis,

Unfortunately, it's not as easy as it should be. The most reliable method is to use your own computer to display the model in the Object Viewer. If your customer's computer is running Windows, you can install the o2c Player on their machine.

Here's the download page:

o2c Player
http://www.o2c.de/en/download/o2c-download.html

There are two versions of the freely-distributable ActiveX control (for Windows only).
- O2CSetup.exe - This version is newer but does not include raytracing and shadow casting
- O2CSetupOCX.exe - This is the version installed by DataCAD and used by the Object Viewer

The owner / developer of the o2c format, Elecosoft, has introduced an iPad player and a Web 'cloud' player in recent years but sadly it does not appear any of these efforts have resulted in an end-user product.

It's possible to upload your o2c files to their WebGL-based viewer which should run in any Internet browser on any device.

There's a few examples on the page, but you can upload objects directly from your computer. The WebGL Viewer does not support shadow casting, though they did have a prototype that did at one time.

Mark,
I've got clients who only have Apple products and therefore can't use the o2c player. You said an o2c object can be uploaded to the WebGL Viewer. I've looked at that link you provided but am not seeing a way to upload a file. Do you have further information on how to do this? Or another way an Apple product can view an o2c object?
Thanks!

if its not there, reload the page on your web browser.

Then a dialogue box opens, and navigate to the *.o2c file and upload.
Should display in less than 20 seconds ... you can move it around/zoom with your mouse but only alter the brightness (sun symbol).
