From Windoze:

• Start
  
• Run
  
• Enter regedit when prompted for what to open/run
  
• Your registry will be opened in a familiar Explorer style dialog
  
• Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  
• Expand Software
  
• Find the branch named DATACAD LLC and highlight (select) it
  
• Select Registry (or File) from the menu bar
  
• Select Export Registry File...
  
• In the file save dialog under Export range, choose Selected branch
  
• Name and save the file
  NOTE: I would save the file to your DataCAD folder to be backed up along with everything else. Then, when you restore your DataCAD directory, all you need do is double click on the registry file to import it.

As always, use extreme care when exploring/editing your registry.

ok ..everything is fine until I get to DATACAD LLC, I do not see any REGISTRY in there.

There is:
under name (Default)
type REG_SZ data
data (value not set)

then a sub folder DATACAD r (with a circle around it)
and a sub folder to that ... 11 with several info name, serial # ect.

Note this... my dcad 11 is in .. c:\DataCAD ..not in programs..

I take it once I do find it, highlight it, go to file, Export?

When you have DataCAD LLC highlighted, then click on the File/Export from the menus at the top of the dialog.

Select [File] from the menu bar...

Yes, depending upon the flavor of Windows you are running, Export Registry File... is located under either File or Registry on the menu bar. Sorry for the confusion, but I didn't write Windows.

Ok.. running XP, should have stated that..

so it makes no difference where I have Dcad, and even though it doesn't say registry, I have found the mother load... ?? labeled default, and now just copy it??
