How May I get the window to reopen showing text selected to be edited, dimensioned activated by mouse, etc? It suddenly disappeared .

If a popup window gets hidden behind the main window, you can try toggling thru the currently open apps and cycle thru them all using ALT+TAB to see if that pops it back up to the front.

If a main Datacad toolbar like the Messages toolbar is missing off screen somewhere, you can reset all the Datacad toolbars and/or Datacad popup dialogs by closing Datacad & deleting the DcadwinToolbars.gui and/or DcadwinDialogs.gui files which should be located in your Datacad User Interface folder I believe (not sure on the exact folder for Datacad v17). This will force Datacad to recreate those files the next time you start Datacad and it should force the toolbars and dialogs back into their default positions.
