Last night we had a users'meeting. We used my desktop, XP 2Gb.

So far this is the only computer to hand that can run SunShader.

Mel tried it on his desktop after a re-install and re-start. He still has the DLL error that I had.

My laptop and Gregg Kett's are much the same Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 1.86GHz dual core. I have 3Gb he has 1Gb of RAM. Mel has an HP netbook, virtually new. None of these computers can handle SunShader. All allow the settings to be made, positioning the model etc. The laptops show some action on the roof but you don't see any shadows. The netbook shows absolutely nothing.

After following Mark T's post, I got X3 to run on the Vista Laptop by opening as administrator. Just the once, it now opens in the normal manner, and the proper icon is on the screen.

I ran SunShader, essentially to show where the problems are. All of a sudden, after rigorously checking the settings,

......................................IT WORKED!!

So we all sat back, well back, sipping a very nice Georgian red and watching the kosher Sydney shadows go round 40 Dorset Street Epping on Mel's

..................................52 INCH MONITOR

all very impressive, all most impressed.

But that was it. See it once and not again. I thought that it had come to work properly by rigorously pressing the apply button, but to no avail.

So we finished the wine and we all went home.

So what's the conclusion? The conclusion is that Sunshader is unfinished and flakey, but it can be made to work.

I imagine it is just as flakey in the northern hemisphere, and therefore it needs to be fixed before it starts damaging reputations.
