Text colour

I am typing text in Arial font in light red, when I complete typing the text and press return the text displayed is white and when I try to change it to light red it will not change. Existing text on the drawing will allow me to change its colour. any ideas please

Hello Tony &welcome,
What are the settings for the fill color? Text/Font -- look in the lower left for the TTF properties. Is the Fill and/or outline set to use current color, or are they (as I suspect) set to use White?
To change this you'll have to use Change/Text/Font...
