I WASNT THE TEXT TO ALWAYS BE IN CAPS, BUT I DO NOT LIKE THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON BECAUSE CAPS "M" GOES STRAIGHT TO THE MACROS MENU. CAN I SET CAPS IN DATACAD WITH OUT HAVING TO TURN CAPS LOCK ON & OFF? 8)

Hello Jason,

I am afraid I possibly could be not understanding your point. But I'l take the chance.

When you are typing a text string you are not allowed to use letter keys short-cuts.
So, if you are into "Text" menu, and placed the text string starting point, you can type whatever you want that this is not going to confuse with a short-cut.

HTH.

Thanks,
Miguel

GOOD MORNING JASON: GO TO THE TEXT MENU AND TURN ON "ALL CAPS". THIS WILL GIVE YOU UPPER CASE LETTERING INDEPENDENTLY OF THE CAPS LOK AND SHIFT KEYS. THE TRAP IS IN CALLING UP SOME UNITS SUCH AS 9"mm". WITH ALL CAPS THAT IS TRULY THE DEFAULT

If you add the following lines to the [General] section of the dcadwin.ini file, I think this is what your looking for.

Datacad Rev. History File from Ver. 10.02.01
03. A new setting has been added to the [General] section of DCADWIN.INI:

Code: Select all[General]
CapsLock=FALSE

If this is set to TRUE, the AllCaps toggle operates like CapsLock instead of forcing all uppercase letters.

If you insist on using all caps, one solution is to use an all caps font. I don't think there are any in the DataCad suite but one eaxmple is "DaveHand" from Cheap Tricks Ware and there may be others from the same source.
Also, amongst the squillion windows TTF fonts available, there may be a caps only font and this could be used in DataCad.
It may be possible to map keys so that a lower case font only delivers upper case.

Hello Josh:

I am this close to getting everything just right! I changed my INI line to TRUE and this is great for entering text. But, when editing text, this All Caps setting does not apply -- and I think that it should!

Where are you editing text that this is the case?

I think I know what he's talking about Dave. When the text is being edited, in the Information bar while typing, it shows the text as lower case, but Neil, if you hit enter the text becomes all caps. Is that what you ment Neil? I don't use this feature because of that, and if you do want to put a lower case letter in, you can't with this turned on. Even if you could toggle the All Caps, I think it would be easier just to toggle the Caps Lock Key. I modified my MSG file so 99% of my keyboard keys work the same with caps on or off, so I have Caps Lock turned on while in Datacad and just toggle it when I switch applications. What would be a neat feature/option maybe, is that If Datacad becomes a inactive window Datacad turns off the Caps lock. And when it's active it turns on the Caps Lock? I think that would be very handy.

Hi Dave & Josh:

When you Change/Text/Contents, the text shows up in the "Message" line as lowercase; even if All Caps is on. I do have the CapsLock=TRUE in my INI. And when I hit enter -- the lowercase text stays lowercase in the drawing!

Hello,

Sorry Dave, but the 'All Caps' feature never worked to me, with the accented characters.
So, I decided to leave it 'FALSE' in DCADWIN.INI, and suggesting to use always with 'All Caps' OFF.

Please take a look at here, below. Especially when 'All Caps' is ON in both cases.

Within DCADWIN.INI CapsLock=FALSE

Within DCADWIN.INI CapsLock=TRUE

This is, indeed, actually not a problem for us today, but I would wish it to be faced for v12. There are several improvements in the next major release that I would like to put all together. I am sure that it crosses over the management of fonts, Vectorial and TTF.
A transparent flow between this font families will be required.

TIA,
Miguel

I may be able to help out. I was one of the major proponents of this one.

The message line will read the opposite when you are editting text., as long as both the INI setting is True and the All Caps toggle is on in the Change, Text, Contents menu. Once you hit Enter the text on screen in the drawing will be the correct way you intended. Just don't be alarmed by the message line...once you get used to it you won't even notice it.

I luv this feature. Dave don't change it unless you really feel you need to.
