DWG Export Question (and possible issue?)

When I export a GTV (On Layers) to a R2007-R2009 DWG that includes an XRef that uses an X-Clip and highlighting on the whole XRef - I've tried Binding the XRef to a Symbol and Exporting the XRef, and neither one has the highlighting, and neither one had the X-Clipping.
I can live without the X-Clipping, but I needed the highlighting, so we had to open the exported XRef in ACAD and change everything to match the highlighting, and then reattach the XRef (for whatever reason, it would not show correctly without reattaching?).
Is this "normal"? Or, should the bound symbol, or the XRef be doing the better?
