X-Clip Question

If I have an XRef or Self Reference that is X-Clipped, why can't it be selected by Area with the selection rectangle fully enclosing the visible geometry? At the moment, we have to use Crossing.
Since the XRef (or Self Reference) is an entity, and if it is clipped, when the entire thing is inside the area, it makes sense to have it be selected.
