Stringline Dimensions

I'm working on a Saturday (which is a good thing!) and I am doing dimensioning and almost every time I did the second side of a wall, it gives me a dim of 0, and then I have to zoom in and snap again to the second face of the wall to get the 3 5/8" dim. Several times it gave me a 4 5/8" "snap" and inch to the right of the point it should have.
Edit: I found the problem: Perpendicular snapping was turned off ...
