"Show All" button, in Sheet layout appears to not work?

For so many years, without thinking about it..
I could see the details as I layed them out on my MSP sheets. Suddenly I can't see them, just the extents boxes. But the detail shows up in the pdf preview. I thought it must be the Show All button which I've toggled over and over. No luck.
I've got 17, although I've recently tried to update to 17.01
