DataCad 17 won't run

So today I went to start my DataCad 17 and for some reason it won't run. Its been running fine on my Windows Surface until today. I can't even get to the Activation Screen. The little "wheel" keeps spinning but then dies out and the program won't open.

I tried running in a compatibility mode and also a re-installation of the program but to no avail. Anyone have a clue?

Which version of Windows are you running? I am guessing Win8 or 8.1? Was there a Windows Update recently?

Hi Neil:

Thanks for responding. I'm running 8.1 PRO. I do believe there was a recent update. That may be the culprit. Now what?

I am not familiar with Win8.1 - possibly reinstall DataCAD? If that doesn't work, then possibly do a system restore back before the most recent update?

What anti-virus software are you running?

You can try excluding the DataCAD program folder or DCADWIN.EXE from real-time scanning.
