Can't open drawings

I created the original files that were then used by another contractor. He couldn't finish the drawings so they were sent back to me. The file type on each says DataCAD 11-13 Drawing File but I can't open the drawings he sent to me. I tried opening up a blank default drawing and importing his drawings but nothing happened. Any suggestions?
