I have Datacad 10, and I am running it on a laptop that has a resolution of 1280x800, This resolution has stretched my work space to fit the screen and has made all my drawing looked stretched, is there a way to fix this issue. Does Datacad 11 support this resolution?

I'm not sure if there is a setting in 10 to do what you are looking for. I checked in 9 and don't see anything.

In 11, under tools, program preferences.. go to the Interface tab, and use the "screen calibration" button.

I'll check my copy of 10 when I get home and see if I can find anything.
I bet someone will have the answer for you before I get there

This sounds like a truly stupid screen resolution and I think the first thing to do is look and see if there is a more sensible option on the laptop - like 1280 x 1024. If you have that, all your problems are surely over.

Since V8, DataCad uses windows to handle all this thus if you switch from 1280x1024 to 1800x1600, on the same monitor, DataCad just goes on delivering the goods as normal. Similarly, you can change the proportions of the drawing area on a screen and a circle remains a circle.

However there is a calibration facility in V11. It may be in V10 too. It's under Tools, Prog Preferences, Interface. There is a button "Screen calibration" in the top right corner. The reason why you don't hear about it is that nobody needs to use it. I understand it is for minor tweaking but you may find it helpful.

I don't see the screen options in datacad 10.
The thing is my laptop has a wide screen, and need to have the resolution it is set to, If I drop the resolution to 1024 x 768 everything on my desk top gets stretched to fit the screen, so all my other programs including datacad get stetched.
I'll take a look at datacad 11 and see if this problem has been resloved.

Thanx for the help.

It's not stupid, it's a widescreen resolution. He probably has a really nice laptop.

The screen calibration is used for two main purposes, (maybe more). First if someone want to use a scale against their screen, once calibrated, they can use the scale the shown in the menu or Status Panel. Second, it makes "stupid" resolutions like widescreens and screens that might not be exactly perfect, show curves and circles accurately, with relitive size and shape.

(Edit: Looks like he just posted that it is a widescreen just before I posted  ) The screen calibration is going to be what you need Toby. Let us know how thing go when you get 11.

But a particularly bad choice for the DataCad 10 user. However, it appears that Gieselmann et cie have come to the rescue. The interface preferences in V11 are quite different. More than just tweaking, I have made a good circle into seriously bad ellipse. Therefore, a badly elliptical circle should be fixable in V11.
