Is there a way to up load a SketchUp file (.skp) into DataCad (version 17)??

It is possible, and it will depend on the version of SketchUp it is. Go to the Insert menu, and select SketchUp.

If you have a newer version of SketchUp, I think you can Save As an older verison that is supported in DataCAD 17.

I do not have SketchUp on my system. I have a client that sent me a SketchUp file that he wants me to try working off. Can I still call up the .SKP file? If so, how?

not sure about v17, but in v18 you can insert a Sketchup file in the "insert" tab (at top of screen).

DataCAD 17 has the Insert / SketchUp tool. Try it, and if it doesn't work, ask the person who gave it to you to Save As an earlier version.
