I use self X-Refs to compose print pages. And I periodically do a "save-as" each time I reach a progress point or make changes. When I would do the save-as, the self-refs would update to be a self-ref of the new file. Then any changes I make are reflected in the x-ref for printing.
But a week or so, they stopped updating. Now when I save as, they become an x-ref of the previous file name.
It happens whether the x-ref layer is locked or unlocked.
I don't rember changing any settings.
Anyone have an idea of how to remedy the problem?

Try redefining them back to the drawing, it usually will re-associate themselves as a self xref.
