You can use File/Purge... There you can check all your GTW´s and then save them as a new file.

Hello,

As far as I know, this is not possible to do easily.

One thing you could do is Save As the drawing with the GTV's that you want, then erase all the entities, then Copy and Paste the entities in from the drawing that lacks the GTV (pasting onto the correct layers, of course), and then Save As again, using the name of the file you are replacing.

If you want to bring a view into existing file containg views then you can do the following.

Open the drawing file containing VIEW.
Bring up the file Purge Dialog using File-Purge menu.
Deselect all layers using Layers pull down menu.
Save to new AEC file using File-SaveAs.
Dismiss the dialog.
Close the file.
Open the new AEC file.
Use layersets from Layers menu to create new layerset file.
Close AEC file
Open AEC file where VIEW has to be read.
Using layersets from Layers menu, load the layerset file.

Thanks for your replies.

It seem that one can only copy GTV as seperate drawings.

It would be nice if it was possible to clipboard select, copy and paste an entire drawing file the way it was setup in the first place.

And, if you really are dealing with GTVs, so you can. Joanna is right, and all the others are wrong, misunderstood you, or have a very personal view of what a GTV is - or maybe I have misunderstood you.

If by entire drawing you mean entire drawing, save it, and simply save again it under another name.

Another possible problem is your concept of a GTV. A GTV is a collection of layers within a drawing that are turned on. That's all, and that's how you make them. The entities on those layers may or may not be visible, i.e. they may be off the screen, but they still compose part of a GTV.

There are two ways to export. The most usual is essentially as you describe.

1. Select a GTV

2. Hit R. This ensures that all entities in the GTV are indeed visible. In my
case they always are, I think, but not everybody need work that way.

3. Clipboard select by area, copy - just as you say

4. Paste into new file

The alternative is usually for exporting to OtherCad.

1. Select a GTV

2. Export a DWG, " ON layers only". That's a GTV

3. Import same into a new file

I never use the Purge command. I didn't know it was there.
Thanks Joanna!
