I replace a defective Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti 4600 with a new 5200 and new driver in my 98SE machine. The video looks and work OK but not all my go to view show up the same as on my other machines with the 4600 card.
You have to press extents to find some views.

Any thoughts? Should I try and find a legacy 4600 card, though very hard to find.

Thanks

This is common side effect of a video card update. It's related to how your video card / driver displays your display. As you update your GTV's they will correct themselves. You must work alone  those of us who work with co-workers have to deal with this everyday due to different resolutions & screen layouts.

All my settings are the same. And the Plot sheets are fine. It is just a few 'go to views' mostly more complex ones, ie. 3d image saved in para not ortho view. Also some other simple ortho view 'go to views' do not show without seeking them out with the extents button.

Thanks for responding.

No information is lost, I find you can have the same problem when you change monitors. Extents will fix it and then update the view.

I have to add that the correct upgrade for a 4600 is a 6600 or 7600 videocard. 5200 is equivalent to a 4200 videocard. If you can get a 6600GT will be a good choice for that, but you can find also a 7600 AGP videocard as well. You can use a 6800 or a 7800 too, because they are better but you must uninstall the old videocard to avoid any confusion with programs and drivers. Enter in Save mode to win98 and unistall the videocard in th Device Manager.

Hope this could help.
