Irregular clipping boundaries for Symbols and XREFs

Symbol Clip

You can clip symbols using either rectangular or irregularly shaped polyline boundaries.

:arrow: To use an irregular polyline to clip a symbol:
  1. Select Clip Cube from the 3D Views menu. Alternatively, click on the Clip Cube icon in the Viewer toolbar.
  2. Select Symbol Clip from the Clip Cube menu. The SClip menu is blank.
  3. Select the symbol in your drawing that you want to clip. The SClip menu contains options.
  4. Select New Cube. The New Cube menu appears.
  5. Select Polyline and draw the shape you want by extending the polyline and clicking where appropriate. When the polyline meets your wishes, right-click to end the clip.
  6. Toggle Clip On in the SClip menu to display the results in your drawing window.

XREF Clip

You can now clip XREFs using irregularly shaped polyline boundaries.

:arrow: To use an irregular polyline boundary to clip an XREF:
  • Insert an XREF into your drawing.
  • Select Clip Cube from the 3D Views menu. Alternatively, click on the Clip Cube icon in the Viewer toolbar.
  • Select XREF Clip from the Clip Cube menu. The XClip menu is blank.
  • Select the XREF in your drawing that you want to clip. The XClip menu contains options.
  • Select New Cube. The New Cube menu appears.
  • Select Polyline and draw the shape you want by extending the polyline and clicking where appropriate. When the polyline meets your wishes, right-click to end the clip.
  • Toggle Clip On in the XClip menu to display the results in your drawing window.
