From the 2D Utility menu, select F7 Measure, S5 Area / Per. and then trace around the area you wish to measure.

Yeah that doesn't. A 27'-0"x27'-0" box should give you an of Area=729.000 ft² and a Perimeter=108'-0" You'll want to check under the Utility menu F0 Settings, S2 Scale Type and make sure your using a correct scale for your location/project. For feet & inches use Arch. For an easy way to find areas, break down your areas into rectangular shapes, then Length x Width = Area. You can use this to find small simple areas and then add them together. Or using Datacad, you can trace around complex shapes with arcs and such and avoid the radial formulas for circular areas. If your really wanting to learn the formulas there are some good math sites on line. I usually just Google for math lessons and find some good ones with the needed formulas with examples. Good luck!

In the measure menu, pick Pnt. to Pnt. (Point to Point, measures between two single points) and pick the two points that make up the 27'-0". Does it actually report back 27'-0"? I have a feeling maybe something is enlarged. Is this maybe imported from a DWG? The result is almost 60 times greater than the expected answer.

Hello,

Another method that can be easier, is the hatch the area (so you can verify/adjust/redo the measure without having to completely reselect it) and then in Measure/Area & Perimeter/ you can then select the hatch.
