I've installed / removed DC-12 twice now, once Custom and once Complete, and have not been given the option to "copy some of my DC-11 settings and files to the DC-12 program folder automatically" as stated in "Before You Begin".

The prospect of manually adding / changing all that is not something I look forward to.

What am I missing?

Thanks for the assistance in advance.

It sounds like Setup is not finding your DataCAD 11 installation. In what folder is DataCAD 11 installed? Is there a shortcut for it in your Start menu?

It is installed in "C:\Program Files\DataCAD\DCADWIN.exe" and yes there is a shortcut in START.

Right click the shortcut in the Start menu and choose Properties. Does the value in the "Start In" field match the actual location of the program? Is Dcadwin.exe present in that location? Is Dcadwin.ini present in teh same folder? Does DataCAD 11 run?

Does your "DataCAD 11" shortcut live in a "DataCAD 11" program folder?

I don't understand.
I have a shortcut in the START menu and on in a list of shortcuts in the system tray.
I do not have a "DataCAD 11" folder but a "DataCAD" folder in Program Files as shown.
The paths shown in previous posts are cut and pasted from the properties window under the start window.

In other words...

Is your DataCAD 11 shortcut located in the following path?

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\DataCAD 11

No it's not.
I'll try putting one there though and see.
Thanks and I'll let you know.

No Joy.
Shortcut is now in:

"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\DataCAD 11"

and it does work.

One thing is good though, I've done the installation so many times now that I've memorized my Serial Number.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and have a good weekend.
