Where can you get the update? I cannot find it on the DataCAD website or a link on the forum.

Is it possible to get the layer names from DataCAD in the 3DS file?
So I can only see obj_0 to obj_xx.
Is it also possible to get textures and lights in the 3DS file?
I know, I am excessive.

Something to note about the new update installer. They now download to your Temporary Internet Files folder. So if you want to copy the installer for backup or for network installs, that's where it is downloading to now. FWIW.

Hello Martell,

I've tested a little for the Export/3DS and textures and get an interesting behavior.

Inserting by first place an O2C object and later a 3DS the result is here:

Inserting by first place an 3DS object and later a O2C the result is another:

Hope this can help in some way.

Thanks,

Where do you insert the 3DS file?
If I do this in my free renderer (Kerkythea) I can´t assign any textures.
If I export the same scene from 3D-Studio, I can.
So I think it is a bug in the 3DS file.

I'm inserting both models into DataCAD 12.01.01, using Insert/O2C Object and 3DS menus.

So I think it is a bug in the 3DS file.

Both models (o2c and 3DS) were created in DataCAD 12.01.01.

Miguel,
When o2c or 3ds is inserted, file is converted to DataCAD symbol. The file extension gets dropped out, and the full path and name is kept. If both files have same name (different extensions in the same folder), they will be end with same symbol name in DataCAD, but since only 1 symbol definition can exist, the first one wins. In your first case o2c file wins over 3ds and in the other 3ds wins over o2c.

Yes, I can confirm that Devinder. Making another experiment with two different models (and names) it appears as you stated.

But, I've also noted that while the internal wall face has an "unissigned" material, what produces an equal result in both cases, the external wall faces and the openings has materials assigned, and shows unique behaviors on both models.
Also the window glass in 3DS format produced an interesting colored transparent effect as well.

Thanks,

I didn't see any mention of the new features, fixes, etc. in the update other than the scroll wheel issue. And for some reason the RevHist.htm wasn't updated with this install.

Is there a list somewhere of the changes in V12.01.01.01?
