Is there a way (or could there be a way implemented) to suppress the z-heights in an XREF?
I want it perfectly flat for tracing 3D walls over and then pop into o2c without a bunch of goofy z-heights mucking it up.
And, yes, I'm too lazy to turn that layer off.
Just a thought.

At some point Xclips are suposed to take care of this, but right now they only work in Ortho view. :(

Ben,
Try locking the layer the xref is on then select everything you want to see in o2c as if you were dragging it and hit your o2c icon. You should just see the entities selected in the o2c viewer. I don't know if this is any better than turning off the layer, but depending on your drawings it may help.
