I then opened a project developed in V11. When I went to the print sheet menu, the screen starts the screen display then immediately closes the file, all within a second or two. Any suggestions?

This may be due to some corrupted printer settings in that file. Try opening the file in v12 and pressing [Ctrl]+[Shift]+C. This will clear the printer settings and should allow you to enter the Print menu. You will, of course, have to re-select your printer/plotter when you enter the Print menu. However, any sheet layouts you had previously defined will still be there.
