I am fond of drawing cmu walls in section using the 8Block linetype. It works well for me in most situations. However, I have a project where a portion of the existing wall in section is being demolished. I have the existing wall detail xref'd into the new detail with the existing-to-remain highlighted to red/original. There is an additional instance of the xref with a shading layer turned on to show the extent of the existing. I set a third instance of this xref to show only the demolition layer and I highlighted that instance with LtGrey (screened) and a dashed linetype. I was expecting to see the cmu show up dashed, but instead it disappeared to be replaced by a single dashed line. Well, duh! One linetype cancels the other. I guess I'll have to go back into the detail and replace the 8Block in the demo layers with stacked cmu symbols. It would truly be fortunate if we could just explode the 8Block linetype to its constituent entities.
