What we are looking for is to get rendered elevations from Sunshader. I thought we had this tied down, but apparently we don't and there is still a problem of keeping the correct scale. Has anybody got comment on this? or a methodology?

Thank you

You can use the Save Image to DataCAD option to insert the current view in DataCAD.

Note: Superimpose saved image only applies to Plan views so this option must be unchecked for any other view projection.

Select the Save Image icon to adjust the resolution settings.

In DataCAD, you'll need to use the Enlarge, Calibrate menu to enlarge the bitmap to the correct real-world size.

Hi Guys
I was working with Nick on this adventure, however you can get an elevation to superimpose in dcad, when you get the save image to dcad dialog box it defaults to a plan view but you can still go behind the dialog box and click on Marks head to get an elevation view you need then click the little refresh arrow in the dialog box and woohoo you have the elevation in the dialog box to save into dcad.

the elevation (jpg) defaults to the active layer in dcad which you then need to move to its own layer.

the problem we are having is control over the sizeing, if you play with the model in sunshader , enlarge etc, you no longer have control over its size of image.

we are trying to get it to the same size scaled image as the model to produce rendered elevations with an outline in sunshader and/or with shadows.

you still have the problem of a large white background of the jpg if you want to put several elevations on one sheet.
so that's why we enlarged the image in sunshader to reduce the white background of the jpg, but when you change to image in sunshader you have no control of the output size, or do you know of a scaling/resolution input somewhere.
we were trying to reduce the white background of the jpg to reduce the overlapping issues of the jpg images.
this is experimental at this stage.
the object of the exercise is to get nice rendered elevations with an outline at your desired scale on a sheet to print, .

hope this makes sense have a try and let me know if there is a work around.
cheers Gregg

Gregg,

You've found a 'trap door' in the Superimpose Image routine.

If you set up your elevation view 'extents to the screen' first,

then bring up the Save image to DataCAD dialog, check Superimpose saved image,

then restore the previous view by selecting the elevation icon,

when you save the image to DataCAD it should be scaled correctly.

Of course, you'll have an elevation view coordinated with the Plan (a.k.a. Ortho) view in DataCAD.
