O.K., but it was set to 100 in the file you sent. The default value is 20. 100 is too large for practical use.

For discussion, here is an image showing the dimension points relative to the building corner that was 'missed'.
You can turn on the display of dimension points by toggling on Dim. Points in the Utility, Display menu.

In Tools, Program Preferences, Interface Tab, what are your snap indicator settings?

And I changed the snap indicator settings. My boss (user of DataCAD since 1998) has no clue either, and she's having the same results on a different machine.

I see the snap indicator in the right place in one of your screen shots, but it appears the endpoint was placed at (or near) your cursor instead.

Do you typically use the middle mouse button or the [N] key to object snap?

I normally use the N key but the middle button did the trick!!

Mark, I have no words!! Thank you for your time and for sticking with me.

I'm also not sure what to say because I would expect, when comparing the two methods, the middle mouse button to be more error prone than using the [N] key. Personally, I prefer the [N] key because I never liked the 'feel' of the scroll wheel / middle button combo for snapping.

Regardless, stick with what works and keep us posted.

And (of course), always make sure that the drawing is near absolute zero - and not out on Pluto like some Acad'rs (like manufacturers and engineers) are prone to do. That results in strange behavior, too!
