I have a problem with my namingg standards for Smart Doors and Windows. The methodology, while mostly making sense to me, takes up too much real estate on my screen. This can be seen in the attached screen clip. I am wondering what system other DCAD users employ in naming their entities.

I am temted to use a very simple numerical system that requires me to use a look up table to get more info about that entity before I select it.

Here is a naming system that I have come up with for 2D & 3D symbols and Smart database names. I don't know if it is much of an improvement

You might consider?
New vs. Existing, since for me New are 90deg open and darker, vs 45deg and lighter for existing.
Opens in vs Out does matter to me since that is decided when I place it, so I don't need a separate door for each.
Don't know how Robe and Window relate to Exterior or Interior?
Awning and Fixed are more Window types for me.
Might add HM - Hollow Metal to the Material list

Over all the years, I need to really also go back and review my lists when I get some time.
Mine currently are fairly simple
Nw E 3070 New Exterior 3'-0"x7'-0"
Ex I 3068 Existing Interior .....
I also use:
OHD - most always an Exterior Overhead door
BF - most always an Interior BiFold
HS - most always an Interior Horizontal Slider
P - Most always an Interior Pocket
and on, if it's usually I or E, I don't call that out. It usually only matters for me on a Swing Door on if I should the sill or not.

Others might have a better system.
Can be a good forum discussion.
