When I select the 3D Rotate command I am presented with the 2D rotate parameters when I am expecting the 3D rotate parameters. What could I be doing wrong?

I think that I found the solution? I need to be in a view other than Plan view to see the 3D rotate parameters ie Elevation, Isometric or Parallel view

Walter:

This is controlled by the View Dependant Editing checkboxes in the Preferences dialog.

If 3D is checked, you must be in a non-plan projection to enter a 3D editing menu.

I must say that I know how this works and I guess it needs to work this way, but I don't think it has always worked this way. I have been working on a very complex model and I keep having to go in and turn these off an on for various reasons while I work through the model. And it definitely gets annoying.

I don't have a recommendation for a fix, I am just venting.

If this is something that you need to turn on & off constantly, then perhaps there is a function or extended character code or some other method that could be automated and programmed into a toolbar button?

Possibly but I don't use it that much generally but I have been using it a lot the last couple of weeks. I have been very busy and haven't had time to look into it.
